Join TVRS

Interested in joining us? Here are a few steps you can take:

• Become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)!  You can search for available classes on the Virginia Department of Health website.  Click HERE to search for a class.

• Schedule a Ride Along!  Wondering if serving the community as an EMT is right for you?  Come spend a day (or a night) with us.  Join one of our crews for a full shift to get a first-hand look! Contact the membership committee to request a ride along.

• Ready to join? Great!
  • TVRS currently has a waitlist for new members with no EMS experience to join. However, we will accept applications from experienced EMS providers. This helps ensure we can swiftly assign new members to a crew capable of training them soon after they start.
  • The minimum criteria for joining TVRS is:
    • Current Virginia EMT certification
    • 19 years of age or older
    • Must have been cleared as an AIC in the ODEMSA region for at least 1 year, OR
    • Must be a member in good standing at another county or out of state agency for 2 or more years and cleared as an AIC or Driver
    • Applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis
